Masturbation boosts your immune system - Life & pop culture, untangled

TheVine - Masturbation boosts your immune system - Life & pop culture, untangled

Remember that 2003 Aussie study that had everyone talking about how ejaculating regularly reduces your risk of prostate cancer? Well, now another study, this time by the University Clinic of Essen in Germany, has given us another reason to take our health into our own hands.

study investigated the effects of masturbation induced orgasm by
lymphocyte circulation and cytokine production (them fighting cells) in
healthy young males, and concluded that components of the immune system
are activated by sexual arousal and orgasm. Translation: Wanking cures

Ejaculation also increases levels of the hormone
cortisol, according, according to Dr Jennifer Landa, a specialist in
hormone therapy. Cortisol often gets a bad rap as a stress-inducing
hormone, but can actually help regulate and maintain immunity in small
doses. "Masturbation can produce the right environment for a
strengthened immune system," Landa says.

Clinical sexologist
Gloria Brame, also adds, "It's healthier than brushing your teeth every
day." And let's face it, a lot cheaper than the impending $7 co-payment
for going to the doctor that the government wants to introduce.

user 'Captinal' is not convinced just yet, saying in a thread, "I got a
cold two days ago, been masturbating 5+ times a day. Still sick."
However, he remains optimistic stating, "I shall continue my research."
Please don't keep us posted, Captinal.

Well, one thing we can conclude from this is that no one will be getting sick in May during Masturbation Month (yep, that's a thing) in San Francisco. Their central event, The Masturbation-A-Thon encourages people to, uh, come together, to raise money for sexual health and education charities.

Well, then. Must be time to adjust the antenna.
